So Much Chesed in Ganon Aleph!
After performing so many acts of chesed and filling our "chesed jar" to the halfway point, the children in Ganon Aleph celebrated with a popcorn party! It works like this: every time a child does an act of chesed, davens nicely, or cleans up particularly well, he or she puts a jelly bean in our chesed jar. When the jar is filled halfway, they are rewarded with a popcorn party. When the jar is filled all the way, we celebrate with an ice cream party. We are now well on our way to the top! Kol hakavod to the children for all the great chesed and mitzvot they have been doing!!

Chanukah Oh Chanukah
Gan Bet brought some Chanukah cheer to the Rockleigh Nursing Home. The children had been practicing many new and familiar Chanukah songs with our music teacher, Morah Roberta. Morah Roberta accompanied us on this trip, and led the children in songs such as Ner Li ,I Have a Little Dreidel, Surah Bachoshech, and Chanukah, Oh Chanukah. The children danced and spun like dizzy dreidels! The seniors in the home joined in and clapped, sang and hummed the wonderful Chanukah tunes. At the conclusion of the singing, Gan Bet presented the Home with a Chanukah Sameach poster, signed in Hebrew by each of the children. We also presented them with a chanukiyah that we had made in class. Before we left, the children signed Chanukah Sameachin in sign langauage! A fun time was ha

Beautifying a Mitzvah!
Look at the beautiful quilt that our children created to welcome home Gilad Shalit ! Each child in the Early Childhood Department wrote or stenciled his/her Hebrew name and decorated a square. Thank you to Sharon Sebrow for putting the quilt together, along with parent volunteers Holly Weiss and Aviva Edelstein. The quilt will be delivered by El Al Airlines. We are proud to express our great joy at Gilad's release with such a beautiful gift.

Gan Gimmel Prepares for our Bake Sale

In preparation for our Rosh Chodesh bake sale, the children in Gan Gimmel made delicious chocolate covered pretzels. All of the proceeds from the bake sale will be going to Keren Malki, an organization in Israel that helps people with differing abilities. The children read many books in class about people with differing abilities. Their favorite was Yossi and Laibel On The Ball which was about a boy in a wheelchair who wanted to play baseball with his new neighbors. Making a book about our own acts of chesed is helping us get even more excited about our chesed tzedaka project. We hope to sell all of our baked goods, at .50 each and be able to send a lot of tzedaka to Israel from Yavneh's Early Childhood Department.

The girls come every Thursday and this week they helped the class with their Thanksgiving projects. Gan Daled loved working with their older friends. We can't wait until they come back again.
