Ganon Bet Played Sevivon With Morah Rina

The children of Ganon Bet played dreidel with  Morah Rina.
They sang the song "Sevivon sov, sov, sov...".
They spun around
 and around
and around.
When the singing stopped,
the "dreidel" stopped spinning.

The children had so much fun being the dreidel.

I Had a Little Dreidel!

I had a little dreidel....

...it was not made of clay...

...I dipped in some paint...

...and spun it right away!

 Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel...

...I spun with all my might...

...and when I was all finished...

...the colors were so bright!

Chanukah is Coming!!

If it's Kislev, that means Chanukah is coming soon!!  The discovery table in Ganon Aleph's classroom is filled with different kinds of chanukiyot, dreidels, candles, and Chanukah felt pieces for the children to touch and explore.  There has been a lot of counting, classifying, problem-solving, and socializing going on around this table!

Chanukah, Oh Chanukah

The past two weeks have been fun-filled and busy getting ready for the wonderful Chag of Chanukah.

Check out how the yeladim of Gan Daled made Chanukiyot:

First, they sanded the wood.

Next, each child designed a Yaacov Agam styled Chanukiya according to their liking.

Then they painted in smocks & smiles.

They proudly display the finished Chaukiyot!

The children busy decorating the Chanukah themed trivets.

The children enjoyed playing "Human Dreidel"!

Creating Chanukiyot out of Lego and

playing Chanukah matching during activity time.

Making yummy Chanukah Chocolates! Yum Yum!
Wait for it- there is more fun to come!

We Love Playing Dreidel!

The children in Ganon Aleph have been playing the traditional dreidel game using pennies. We sing the dreidel song to help us remember the rules:
Nun means you get nothing, Gimmel means you win
Hay means you get half the pot, and Shin means put one in!
They practice math skills, Hebrew letter recognition, as well as waiting patiently for their turns!

Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel, I Made It Out of Clay!!

The children in Gan Gimmel have known the song for a long time but have they ever really made a dreidel out of clay?? They used their hand and finger muscles to manipulate the self hardening clay into their own dreidels. After forming it into the shape they wanted, the children "wrote" with a pencil point on the dreidel's 4 sides. They wrote NUN, GIMMEL, HAY, SHIN on each side and they can't wait until it is dry enough to paint.
