Yom Yerushalayim

We had a wonderful Yom Yerushalayim celebration this morning! Each child painted a box and thought of a mitzvah they could do, which we wrote down and attached to each box. We then took our boxes and joined the other early childhood classes in the cafeteria where together we built a giant Kotel. This was a hands-on way to demonstrate that the Beit Hamikdash will be rebuilt from the merit of all the mitzvot we do! Afterwards, we all davened, danced, and sang songs together in front of our Kotel.

The children then created beautiful Mizrach pictures to hang in their homes so they will remember which direction to face when they daven!

They also had a chance to walk through the eight gates which lead into Yerushalayim. (These were put up and decorated by the Sherut Leumi girls and the older Yavneh students.)

We returned to our classroom for some "golden" snacks provided by Mrs. Cohen: Golden Grahams cereal and golden raisins! What a yummy ending to our celebration of the City of Gold.
