Lots of Fun on L'ag BaOmer!

Gan Gimmel had such a blast on L'ag BaOmer! The weather didn't stop us from having an awesome indoor field day with Dube Zone! The coaches led the children in activities together with Gan Aleph. The classes engaged in a friendly Tug of War! The children also participated in scooter and relay races. The children played with the largest parachute we ever saw! Ask your children what they got when the activity was over. They will tell you special "DZ" stamps. They really loved moving their bodies and had so much fun!

Ganon Aleph Celebrates Lag B'Omer

Lag B'Omer was celebrated at Yavneh on Monday.  All of the early childhood classes participated in some fun activites with Dube Zone, including tug-of-war, relay races, and parachute games.  We invited Ganon Bet into our classroom for storytelling, songs, and snacks around the "bonfire." Morah Shani provided glow bracelets and ice cream sandwiches for all of the children.  Now that Lag B'Omer has passed, the countdown to Shavuot begins!

Ganon Aleph Celebrates Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day we talked about ways we can help to protect the Earth.  The children came up with the following:  throwing trash into the garbage, recycling, not wasting water, carpooling so there will be less pollution in the air, and keeping the lakes and oceans clean so the fish won't die.  We worked in our ECD garden pulling out weeds in preparation for future planting.

While we were outside the children looked for litter on the ground to throw in the garbage cans, and they even hugged some trees!

They decorated "litter bags" to hang in their cars, as well as water bottles to use and reuse in school on hot days.

Hopefully, all of their efforts to protect our environment will pay off!!

THE EARTH - We Dig It!

The insects have descnended on Gan Daled.
In celebration of Earth Day, Gan Daled read "Too Much Trash" in our Let's Find Out/Weekly Reader. The magazine contains a graph showing how long it takes for a banana, a sock and a bottle to decompose, The class was excited as they remembered their own experiment to predict how long it will take objects that we "planted" to decompose.
Danielle and Daniella creating insects
Each child designed a poster for Earth Day describing how they can help our Earth. They love seeing their hard work displayed in our room.

In recognition of Earth Day, we put the concepts of reusing and recycling to use as the class constructed insects from recyclables. The children remembered that insects have 6 legs, 3 body parts and often fly. They used their creativity and many materials to design their insects. The results were amazing!!

Getting Ready For The ECD Bake Sale In Ganon Aleph

Ganon Aleph had so much fun preparing for our ECD bake sale.  We created colorful bags for the popcorn that we popped and made beautiful color posters to hang up around Yavneh.

The best part was selling everything that the ECD department had prepared.  We are so proud of all the money we raised for I-Shine a division of Chai-Lifeline.  Kol HaKavod to all the children who worked very hard to make this bake sale a huge success!

Treats for Tzedakah!

Do you know why the EC wing has been smelling like a bakery lately? The Gan and Ganon classes have been eagerly preparing for the EC bake sale! Gan Gimmel was super excited to participate in the bake sale today.
Over the last two weeks Gan Gimmel has been so busy preparing chocolate dipped pretzels and marshmallows to sell to all of the students in 1-8 grade. Each of the EC classes baked many different treats. This morning Gan Gimmel decided to donate all of the Tzedakah money that they had collected so far this month to the cause! It was over $50! All of the proceeds will benefit iShine- an organization that helps kids in need. We are so proud of the children and their participation in this extraordinary mitzvah!

REFLECTIONS ON MONET

The Bridge at Giverney
Gan Daled learned about the Impressionist painter, Claude Monet. His style of painting received its name from his famous painting Impression:Sunrise.
Ryan, Ally, and Brian and their "masterpieces"
Monet loved to paint reflections. The children emulated his style as they painted scenes with water and reflections. They used both water colors and tempera paint to achieve this effect. The resulting "masterpieces" were very impressive and worthy of hanging in any art gallery.

Pardon The Interruption...

The children in Gan Bet were happily going about their business, counting the omer and preparing for Yon Ha'Atzmaut, when...

...they found a mysterious "something" in the ground outside!

They children dug and pulled the "something". Then they found more!

"It's a tiger's tail!" called out one child.

"It's a pipe!" called out another.

" It's a carrot! The biggest carrot in the whole world!" called yet another.

We proceeded to bring the "something" inside...

...where we are still trying to figure out what it is!

The children cut, peel, measure, and use literature to research...

...all the while recording thier findings in brand new science journals!

Just what will our findings bring?
