Slippery Business!

Just how did the Jewish people get the oil for the Menorah?

The children in Gan Bet experienced olive-oil-making for themselves...

...as they touched, squeezed, and spilled olives and their oil into cups and on the tables...

Look at the oil that Anna squeezed from her olives!

We also experimented with oil and paint and water...

What a slippery, beautiful mess!

I Had a Little Dreidel!

I had a little dreidel....

...it was not made of clay...

...I dipped in some paint...

...and spun it right away!

 Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel...

...I spun with all my might...

...and when I was all finished...

...the colors were so bright!

Aspiring Artist in Gan Gimmel

As an introduction to our art history program we began our exploration with talking about primary colors. We learned that red, yellow, and blue are primary colors.
The children each sat down next to a paper plate that had 6 empty cirlcles:
They then received a drop of red, yellow and blue paint:

We began by placing a drop of red paint and mixing it with yellow and we created orange!

Next they took yellow and added some blue and made green!

Lastly they took blue and mixed in some red and came our with purple!
