Yaakov's Yummy Lentil Soup

In this week's Parashat Toldot, the children in Ganon Aleph learned about Eisav returning from a hunting trip so famished that he traded his rights as a first-born for a bowl of lentil soup.  After the children chopped up all the vegetables themselves (even the onions!) we cooked our own pot of yummy lentil soup.  The delicious aroma wafted through the halls of Yavneh, drawing many visitors who were following the scent!

Exploring Our Senses in Ganon Bet

We got a real “taste” of our senses when we played a game where we had to guess what it was we were tasting. Almost everyone got really daring and tried everything! We tasted things that were, sweet, sour, bitter, and salty. We got a “whiff” of our sense of smell when we were blindfolded and played what’s that smell”? We looked into 6 bowls that each held a different white food. We couldn’t figure out what was in the bowls because they all looked the same. Each child took a turn tasting something from a bowl. Some of us knew what we were tasting, and some of us did not. Please ask your child what they tasted.

Learning About Our Five Senses In Ganon Bet

Ganon Bet continued the unit on their Five Senses by smelling and tasting various foods with their eyes covered. To culminate the activity we looked into five bowls filled with various white food. The only way we could figure out what was in the bowls was by smelling and tasting the different foods. Ask us what we tried.
